Banana Orchid National Flower

February is the month to start seeing the amazing orchids at Queen Elisabeth ii Botanical Park a number of spectacular native flowers, including 26 different varieties of orchids. Probably the best known and certainly one of the most unique and easily identifiable is the National Flower of the Cayman Islands, the Wild Banana Orchid(Myrmecophila thomsoniana ). The Orchid Show is March 30th and 31st When Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II opened Grand Cayman’s Botanic Park in 1994, only the Woodland Trail was complete.In the ensuing years, the grounds have grown and developed into the full-fledged world-class facility that is operating today. The Annual Orchid show is the Botanic Park's major fundraising and it is eagerly anticipated by floral enthusiasts throughout the country .
