Ragazzi (meaning ‘good buddies’ in Italian) with its vibrant colors, authentic wood burning pizza oven and central location, it has become a meeting point for family, friends and repeat customers many times over. The wine list has won the Wine Spectator Award for Excellence for the last five years, and then in 2010 the wine list won the rare accolade of Best of Award of Excellence, something that will not go unnoticed by Ragazzi's wine aficionados. The service is warm and efficient and because of their convenient opening hours – 11.30am to 11pm, seven days a week, including Sunday lunch – you can drop in and eat no matter what time you are hungry. Anyone eating alone can feel more than relaxed and comfortable enjoying an appetizer or late night snack at the bar. The bar was designed and built in Italy especially for Ragazzi. The place has a fun atmosphere, is quite loud when full, which it invariably is, and is considered reasonably priced. Every day they have wonderful and tempting specials – two appetizers, four main courses, one pizza and one pasta. You are sure to enjoy it. My passengers love their pizza even in the islands. It's a family favorite meal! They love this new Bordens Pizza Place! Not only for their pizza but they have great hush puppies as well. They give a 10% senior citizen discount and they are a local business. When I did some investigating I found out this awesome pizza place is a true Caymanian (best kept secret) with a lot of history behind it. After a hiatus of several years, local's are so excited by the re-opening of The Original Borden's Pizza in its new location at Trafalgar Place, West Bay Road. A family-owned business originally opened in 1970 by Mrs. June Borden, Borden's Pizza sold in the mid 1990's due to the ill health of its founder. The original location was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan in September 2004; and the business is being re-opened by Ms. June's grandson-in-law Raymond Hydes and grand-daughter Tiffany Hydes. Their menu is in-place featuring all of Borden's Pizza's original family recipes. Enthusiastic former patrons of the original restaurant are already putting items like the Borden's Special pizza and the Hush Puppies on their social media culinary wish lists. "Our logo says it all," Tiffany said. "Our grandmother was the original founder of Borden's Pizza and we have all of her original recipes to share with all of her loyal customers once again." The logo for The Original Borden's Pizza features the smiling face of Ms. June along with the slogan: "A Caymanian tradition since 1970." The Original Borden's Pizza will focus initially on carry-out orders and will be open from 11am to 11pm from Monday through Thursday and on Saturday and Sunday. On Fridays, the restaurant will be open later -- from 11am to 1am. "There is counter seating at our new location, as well as outdoor café seating and we'll also be offering carry-out service.
